Film synopsis: Born and brought up in Manipur and currently living in New York, Ibemhal (59) left her childhood home in Manipur and moved to Nepal after her marriage. Ibemhal’s whole life has been dedicated to raising her two daughters while trying to find her own identity in new places. Who is Ibemhal beyond her identity as a mother and a wife? What was her life like in Manipur and Nepal – both conflict zones when she lived there? Through this film, her elder daughter Prasuna seeks to find out.

The event is part of a series of film screenings which will feature twenty powerful documentary films from Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The entire programme has been curated by Film Southasia, a festival of South Asian documentaries, and the screening is made possible by ParVISMETH, a group of researchers and practitioners in the University of Helsinki who promote use of visual methods for social action and social change.
